Dinosaur and Freitzeit Park Germendorf

Wow, last time I posted was last summer, how time has passed!! We've done SO much since and I have so much to share, I'm not sure what place to tell you about first. My friends and family have started to joke that I should start a 'tour and events company' because I am always organizing the next place to visit.

So, after much debating I'm going to tell you about :

Dinosaur and Freizeit Park Germendorf

It's a little bit of a journey to get there, but we've been twice now because it is definitely worth the revisit when friends and family come to Berlin.  We get the SBahn to Oranienburg and then the bus and then unfortunately about another 15min walk to the park itself (not sure why there is no direct transport to the door!)

The two times that we went we took our picnic, although there are options to eat there, such as chips, bratwurst etc. If it's a hot day be prepared to buy drinks and ice creams, even with taking water it wasn't enough for a whole day there.

As soon as you come in you'll see the lake and lots of rides, we turned to the right and followed the path to the animals and dinosaur section first. The deers roam free and love being fed. You can put a 20c in the machine and get food for them. This was a lot of fun, because deers mostly run away scared. There are a few other animals that you can see, but since we've been to the zoo so many times, feeding the deers was more interesting.  

  

Then you go through the gates to the dinosaur park and their huge, life size (?) models. The kids thought it was amazing. They ran up this huge rock and at the top there was a slide to come down the other side and a small lake for kids to play (remember to take your swimming costume and a towel, although German kids are quite happy to play naked). 

Then we walked around looking at the dinosaurs and ran up the volcano! I was convinced to put the money in to turn the volcano on, hummm, what a diasppointment, but it certainly made us laugh! There is a park area for the kids to play too. 

So we made our way back through the dinosaur area, past the animals and to the rides and playground. The kids were over the moon. Lots of fun and really cheap prices too, most things are free. Rides are between 50c and 1 euro and some of them are even self service- put the money in, go on the ride and that's it, no one is there to supervise! There is also a free indoor play area, so an option if it rains and a bouncy castle too, which is free to use. Tip- remember to check the bus times for leaving in the afternoon, we got there just after one had left and had to wait another hour for the next one- although there is a nice little Greek restaurant/bar/hotel  next to the bus stop, so we had a drink for the time to pass!
